Baby boomers will be healthier, better educated and have more spending power than any other generation reaching 65 in New Zealand’s history. A Ministry of Social Development report, The Business of Aging (Jan 2011) argues that this provides an opportunity to take a different view of the contribution older people can make in the coming decades. The Ministry believes flexibility and changing attitudes will be key to harnessing the potential of those baby boomers who want to keep on working. The report aims to encourage discussion and highlight the potential of older people’s contribution to the New Zealand economy and the importance of their consumer dollars. |
