Dr Rose Ryan, Heathrose Research (April 2011)
Evaluating the impact of the changes to the employment relations legislation that came into effect on 1 April 2011 was the topic of a keynote presentation by Rose Ryan on 19 April 2011. She was one of the presenters at a seminar organised by the New Zealand Employment Relations Society and the Indsutrial Relations Centre, Victoria University of Wellington. A panel of unionists, employment lawyers and business representatives provided commentary on the impact of the changes.

Industry training: examining the issues |

Heathrose Research made two presentations at the New Zealand Vocational Education and Training Research Forum in April 2010.
The first provided the findings of research completed by Heathrose for the AgITO on trainee completion and credit achievement. Justin Blakie from the AgITO followed by outlining how the findings have been used to design a strategy to drive improved outcomes for trainees.
The second drew on research projects carried out over recent years to consider some of the ethical, methodological and practical challenges for researchers when collecting data from trainees and employers.

Electricity Supply Industry: Strategic Responsiveness |

This was a joint presentation at the New Zealand Vocational Education and Training Research Forum. Strategic Responsiveness: Increasing the Participation of Maori, Pacific Peoples, Migrants and Women in the Electricity Supply Industry, detailed the results of recent research that explores the barriers and enablers for those equity groups in their learning and completion of qualifications.

Working Women: How things Have Changed |

In this presentation to the NZ Council of Trade Unions bi-ennial Women's Conference, Rose Ryan explores life for working women in New Zealand. She begins in the 50s when equal pay was an emerging issue, and reflects on the progression through to the issues of today including ethical work, climate change and the impact of the growth in single-parent households.

Dr Rose Ryan, Heathrose Research; and Liz Stephenson, Careerforce (April 2009)
Lessons learned about improving workforce development and business performance in the health and disability sector were the focus of this presentation.
The embedded model of training for care and support workers was explored, along with the issues related to the research itself. The presentation was given at the Industry Training Federation Research Conference.
