An Evaluation of the Learning Representatives Programme, June 2011

Heathrose Research was commissioned to carry out an evaluation of the Learnng Reps programme in a joint initiative by NZ Council of Trade Unions and Ako Aotearoa: The National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence. The research set out to determine the effectiveness of the programme, and to assess its value to the Learning Reps, their co-workers, employers and unions.

Productivity Effects of Employment Relations Policy – Working Time Arrangements, Flexible Work Practices and Productivity, June 2011

Heathrose Research was commissioned to write this report by the Department of Labour (DoL). It contributes to the development by DoL of a framework for exploring how employment relations policy impacts on work organisation and work practices within New Zealand firms, the resulting changes in operational outcomes, and consequent changes in productivity.

Flexible Work Arrangements - NACEW report PDF Print E-mail

Report to the National Advisory Council on the Employment of Women (NACEW), October 2010

Heathrose Reseach was contracted by NACEW to carry out a literature review from the last five years on flexible work arrangements in a range of countries. It focuses on employee driven arrangements that provide opportunities for enhanced choices for employees that also meet employer's needs.

This paper considers the limits of our knowledge about the dynamics of New Zealand workplaces.  It questions whether the time has come for development of a large-scale survey to provide robust empirical evidence to better inform decision-making by policymakers and practitioners.

Stocktake of current knowledge and research by Heathrose Research Ltd, August 2009

Heathrose Research carried out a stocktake of current knowledge and research on retirement income issues for women. This was part of a Retirement Commission review of retirement income policies implemented by Government. The paper explores the range of existing research, examining women’s income at different stages in life and how this might influence their standard of living and retirement income later in life.

Why workplaces matter: The role of workplace practices in economic transformation PDF Print E-mail

Examines why workplace practices are the key to increased productivity growth. Argues that the best return on investments in science and innovation and skills development will be had when they are accompanied by changes in workplace practices. It also examines the 'high performance workplace systems' model and considers the need for NZ to make the best use of the existing workforce and to attract international labour to address skills shortages.
